Website Questions
Why and how are you making money off mods?!
I’m not (unless you count negative money for website upkeep costs). Shopping software is the easiest way to display and share clothing, and the best filter options require a “price” be set. You can’t check out, you can’t give me money, and you can only add items to your “cart” as a courtesy so you can keep track of things you like within a single browsing session. PLEASE don’t be the first person to complain about the “fact” that I’m “selling” in-game items by virtue of using WooCommerce – you will never live down the public humiliation you will endure.
Item Questions
Are all items their original colours?
No. Items may be dyed and may not reflect the original item colour for ease of photography.
Technical Issues
Link “X” on the website leads to the wrong place/something has the wrong item name. Do you want to know?
YES! 🙂 Please contact me (preferably via the Discord bug reports).
Virtual Photography
I’m interested in using some of your pictures for my own project or to advertise a mod. Can I use the images?
Not without prior (explicit and written) permission. If virtual photography for mods has been commissioned or volunteered, you can, of course, use the images, however!
Can I send in my images to be used on the website? Are there other ways to contribute?
It’s possible, but there are some considerations for images just in the interests of uniformity across images and styles. However, please email me with any interest for collaboration! A lot of the work goes on behind the scenes (e.g. making lists of items in packs, putting together mods and links, and so forth) and more hands makes it go considerably faster.
I’m a modder or designer interested in a commission/trade of private mods for virtual photography. Can that be arranged?
Usually, yes! Please email me; I can usually work in time for VP for mods even if my portrait/scene commissions on Ko-Fi are full.
Site Queries
Why are some hairstyles/items/dyes/shoes/earrings/bangs/eyes/heads (etc.) present and not others, even within the same sets?
Probably because of my own preferences and the random dice rolls of what I pull out of my mod pile to photograph. At the end of the day, this is a database whose first purpose is to make my own life a little easier in virtual photography and playing Tav Dress-Up Time, so I slant prioritisation of what gets uploaded first towards things I use, want to use, or are generally in my style wheelhouse. Otherwise, it’s quite a lot of luck of the draw; I do massive batch photography, so sometimes things just get added at random, because I clicked them, or because I wanted to get something up so a designer page could be up (which can save me a lot of time later to do en masse).
I would like to request that something be moved up the timeline on when it is added to the site. What can I do?
Post in the Discord and I’ll do what I can to move it up the list.
One of the mods you have listed is no longer available publicly. Can I contact you to get the files?
No; I will not give out any files, even if it was previously (publicly) available. If you are having trouble tracking down a mod, I can try to help in the event that it’s public but hidden, but I will not share any actual files (sorry!).
Site Queries
I’m a modder/designer, and I don’t like how something is pictured. What can I do?
Assuming that you haven’t commissioned me, please contact me; I’m happy to re-photograph something when/if time allows for it, but I can only do so much if a mod has issues (clipping etc.). I try really hard to get everything looking as good as possible (with the exception of a few closed eyes here and there…), but in the event that something is really amiss, I may not be able to get it looking its best.
Something here is exclusive/private/secret and I’d rather it not be listed on the website. What should I do?
Please email me and let me know what item and in what circumstances it is exclusive etc. Please note that mods that have been discontinued (i.e. are not publicly available, but previously were) will not be removed except under very extenuating circumstances, as many “mod collectors” may still have the files and will like to know what is in those files. No items that are publicly viewable/accessible will be removed from the Encyclopaedia on the mere conceptual basis of “not wanting them on the website.”
Why are there private/exclusive items listed on the website?
For a few different reasons. For one, the owners of private mods may submit their private items to the website so they can still use the Encyclopaedia’s mod list creator without having to separately specify private mods. For another, people looking to commission mods often use the Encyclopaedia to determine what modders might be good fits for their particular needs. Finally, some modders make use of the Encyclopaedia to create portfolios of their work, including private mods, so may ask to have items listed regardless of public availability. Generally speaking, the website will host any fashion or mod created in good faith regardless of accessibility.
Model Queries
I’m tired of looking at the same drow/skintone/hair colour. Can you vary the model?
No. If a body type 1 elf can wear it, she’s going to. (My Durge isn’t any happier about it than you are.)
Is she cool, at least?
Yes. I’m biased, but I think she’s neat.
Is she canonically a fashion model?
No. She’s 5’1″ and worked in the business sector begrudgingly until the Absolute Crisis. She is, however, extremely knowledgeable about couture.
I’m tired of looking at the same vampire. Can you vary the model?
No. We tried to fire him for having a poor attitude during hair photography sessions and the lighting department turned up exsanguinated.
